“Labor Day in the United States is a holiday celebrated on the first Monday in September. It is a celebration of the American labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country. . . “
For me Labor day is just a day off from all the slaving I do 5 days a week. For me my job is never done. As soon as I leave the job that pays my bills, my other 24/7 job resumes. See I’m a mother and by definition I am a single mother. The sole responsibility of my child rests with me. I make sure that she is cared for and has everything she needs year around. I am the person she looks up to and want to emulate. My job as a mother NEVER ends. Motherhood is something I will never get a break from. That is what we sign up for as parents whether we are married or not. Our job as parents will continue on forever. With that being said, for me, the Job of being a parent is far more rewarding than any career will ever be for me.
I baked my child for 8 months since she was so eager to get here. I had to put all of my needs, wants and desires on the back burner just to make sure she had everything she needs. Becoming a parent means you become selfless. It’s no longer about you, it becomes about your child. You begin to see the world though different eyes. Things that you thought mattered before matter much less or not at all, and that’s okay. It’s a side effect of becoming a parent along with plenty of others.
How was y’alls Labor Day? Do anything fun and exciting?
